Galvalume

Galvalume is galvanized steel with a Zinc Aluminum alloy coating. As we will see, this coating is very important for any building but its especially important in hostile environments.

The Zinc Aluminum coating gives better protection from corrosion and therefore a better return on your investment.  Galvalume steel was found to outlast galvanized by:

• Four times in exposure tests in severe marine environment
• Twice as long in less severe marine location
• Six times longer in industrial environments
• Three times longer in rural situations.

Galvalume steel sheet has a unique Zinc Aluminum alloy coating that gives you the best of both worlds. It offers corrosion resistance and heat reflectivity similar to that of more costly aluminum coated steel. It also provides galvanic protection of bare edges similar to that of Zinc coated steel. Galvalume steel sheet is attractive unpainted but can be readily painted.

Other comparison tests against galvanized and Aluminum coated steels
indicate the superior benefits of Galvalume steel sheet over galvanized and at least comparable performance against Aluminum coated:

• Galvalume steel sheet is less affected by standing water than either galvanized or Aluminum coated steel
• Galvalume steel offers much greater resistance to humidity than does galvanized steel
